Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC)

Established in 2015, the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC) at Akshaya College of Engineering and Technology acts as a catalyst for fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among students and faculty. The centre provides a structured ecosystem that encourages idea generation, innovation, and the transformation of creative concepts into sustainable ventures.

IEDC plays a pivotal role in nurturing entrepreneurial mindset through mentoring, incubation support, industry interaction, and capacity-building initiatives. The centre is committed to cultivating a culture where creativity, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial thinking flourish, empowering individuals to contribute meaningfully to economic and societal development.

Recognitions and MoU :

MSME – Host Institution for Business Incubator (HIBI):

ACET has been approved as an MSME Host Institution for Business Incubator (HIBI) with effect from 01 January 2025, strengthening institutional support for startups, MSMEs, and student-led ventures.

Innovation Network MoU with iTNT Hub:

On 09 January 2025, Akshaya College of Engineering and Technology signed an Innovation Network Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tamil Nadu Technology (iTNT) Hub (iTNT Foundation), Anna University, Chennai, to promote collaborative innovation, technology transfer, startup mentoring, and ecosystem development.

Selection under IIT Madras – Entrepreneurship Development Drive (EDD) 2025–26:

The institution has been selected for the Seed Track of the Entrepreneurship Development Drive (EDD) 2025–26 by IIT Madras, announced on 11 September 2025, enabling structured seed-stage mentoring and startup acceleration.

Institutional Partnership with Wadhwani Foundation:

IEDC has entered into a partnership with Wadhwani Foundation, a globally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to accelerating job creation and entrepreneurship. This collaboration enables access to entrepreneurship programs, venture development support, faculty enablement, startup mentoring, and global best practices for student and faculty entrepreneurs.

OBJECTIVES
  • To organize entrepreneurship awareness camps and entrepreneurship development programmes.
  • To arrange visits to industries for prospective entrepreneurs.
  • To provide students with professional and industrial exposure.
  • To guide students regarding the various government schemes to support entrepreneurship.
  • To create an environment for self-employment and entrepreneurship development through teaching and training programmes.
  • To promote employment opportunities through skill development.
