Established in 2009, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at Akshaya College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, is an Autonomous Institution, NBA-accredited (2024), AICTE-approved department affiliated with Anna University, Chennai and a recognised Anna University PhD Research Centre. Offering a B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (intake: 60) the department is one of Tamil Nadu's most credentialed ECE departments with a 15-year legacy of academic excellence.

B.E. Electronics and Communication Engineering
The four-year B.E. ECE programme offers an autonomously designed, industry-aligned curriculum covering Circuit Theory, Electronic Devices, Digital Electronics, Signals and Systems, Communication Systems, Microprocessors & Microcontrollers, Embedded Systems, VLSI design, Wireless Communications, Antenna Theory, Optical Fibre Communication and IoT systems. With autonomous status, the curriculum is continuously updated to reflect emerging areas including AI-integrated signal processing.
Anna University Ph.D. Research Centre (since 2017)
As a recognised Anna University PhD Research Centre, the department enables faculty and eligible candidates to conduct doctoral research in VLSI, embedded systems, wireless communications, signal processing, and photonics creating a research-enriched environment that benefits both postgraduate and undergraduate students through faculty-led projects and cutting-edge lab activities.

The department is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories supporting hands-on learning and active research, including the VLSI Design Lab, Communication Systems Lab, Embedded Systems Lab, Digital Signal Processing Lab, Electronic devices and circuit Lab, Networks and security lab providing students with practical exposure to industry-standard tools and equipment.
